Meet The Team of Spring 2014
Noha Sahnoune
President
Noha Sahnoune is the President of the Bauer Women Society. She is an Honors and Professional Program in Accountancy student at the C.T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston. She is pursuing her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting (2015) and Master of Science in Accountancy (2016).
Noha worked at the NASA Johnson Space Center in 2013, providing support on accounting processes as a full-time cooperative education student. In the past, Noha was Corporate Relations Director of the Bauer Women Society, and also a Staff Editor for the Bauer Global Studies Undergraduate Business Journal.
Noha has participated in numerous competitions, attended national leadership conferences, and in 2012, directed a team in strategizing marketing for official university social media outlets. Noha is passionate about the economic empowerment of minorities and is working towards building sustainable solutions for women in Houston.
Saneea Sakhyani
Vice President
Saneea Sakhyani is a student at the University of Houston. She is pursuing a double major in History and Liberal Studies (Minor in Business). She is currently the Vice President of the Bauer Women Society. In the past, Saneea was the Finance Director and was responsible for raising funds to support the operations and activities of BWS. She helped organize and lead a committee of 30+ members and together they ensured the success of fundraising events, such as bake sales.
Sana Qais
Corporate Relations Director
Sana Qais is part of the Bauer Honors program at the University of Houston. She is exploring the fields of Accounting and Supply Chain Management with great interest.
Sana currently works as a tutor at the UScholars program at the University of Houston, teaching Accounting and Economics. She is also doing research with Dr. Kiran Parthasarathy. This summer she will be interning with Marathon Oil in the Global Procurement division. She has served as the Corporate Relations Director of BWS since Fall 2013 and has been a member since Fall 2012.
Merziya Gaffar

Merziya Gaffar is a student at the C.T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston. She is currently a freshman pursuing her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting (2017).
Merziya is an active member of the UH 5K Walkathon Marketing Team and Beta Alpha Psi. In the past, Merziya has served as a leader for various student organizations and competed in a wide variety of competitions.
Merziya is also very passionate about the empowerment of women and minorities and aims to break stereotypes and create a path for others. Aside from her involvement in school, Merziya enjoys painting, traveling, and exercising.
Sanchia Kelly-James
Finance Director
Sanchia Kelly-James is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems (2015) at the C. T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston.
Sanchia has proven to be very active academically. She is a part of the Ted Bauer Leadership Certification Program (2014), and also a part of the ELASP Certification Program (2014). Sanchia joined BWS in 2013 and has since been an active member. She is now the Finance Director and also a member of the Bauer Ambassadors Association. When she is not dedicating her profound love to BWS, she is out volunteering with Bauer Ambassadors giving back to the Bauer community.
Aside from being an overachiever, Sanchia is a true fashionista and enjoys the perks of conversing and meeting new people. She also enjoys traveling, sightseeing, and most of all...trying cuisine from different cultures. When she is not buried in studies and doing all of the above, she absolutely enjoys every moment with her two wonderful boys.
Her passion for food along with her love for building new relationships across cultures will truly be an exciting journey this semester. Post-graduation, Sanchia plans to work in the energy industry and pursue a master's at Bauer.
Andrea Fançony

Andrea Fançony is a business student at the University of Houston. She is pursuing her degree in Finance and Management (2016).
Andrea graduated from the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program in 2012. She took the initiative of leading and choreographing the first Dance Production at Luanda International School. Andrea then decided to transform the profits of such a successful concert into non-perishable goods and donate them to a local orphanage.
Aside from her philanthropic interests, Andrea is very active academically. At the University of Houston, Andrea is an active member of the Bauer Women Society and is currently working on getting her Ted Bauer Leadership Certificate (May 2014). Her long-term goals include contributing to the economic growth of her country, Angola, by applying academic and professional experiences she acquires abroad into her workplace. Andrea is also very passionate about women's empowerment and therefore, would love to promote the professional development of women in Africa.
Norma Diaz

Norma Diaz is a first-generation student pursuing her Bachelor's Degree in Marketing
(Dec. 2014). Currently, she is a remote public relations assistant at a fashion company and an intern at a magazine. She has been a member of the Bauer Women Society since spring 2013 and is currently a member of the Non-Profit Alliance. After graduating, she hopes to work at a public relations agency or non-profit organization. During her free time, you can find Norma binging on Netflix or sketching her latest portrait. As an avid coffee drinker, she is currently on the hunt for a lavender latte.
Hailey Jones

Hailey Jones is an Honors student at the C.T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston. She is pursuing her Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems (2017).
Hailey worked at Earthbound Trading Company in 2013, as a Sales Associate. Last semester Hailey was in charge of corporate communications with Schlumberger in the development of a marketing plan for their new SEED Kit.
Vilani Fernando

Vilani Fernando is a student at the University of Houston pursuing a major in Kinesiology and a Minor in Business Administration (2014).
Vilani is a project director for a charity that helps pediatric cancer patients in third-world countries. She plans on working straight after graduation and then ultimately seeking an MBA. Aside from school, Vilani enjoys traveling, eating, and practicing yoga.
