dscf7805.jpeg

Mary Haar

President

Thanks to a combination of luck and witchcraft, Mary Haar is this year's president of  Bauer Women Society. She came to UH in the fall of 2016 as a transfer student and joined BWS immediately. She was also the Member Relations Director in spring 2017.

Mary is an accounting major and plans to graduate in May, as long as nothing goes wrong. In addition to her full school schedule and BWS activities, she also works part-time with our sponsor, Mattress Firm. If you need a new bed, let her know.

Mary only has free time during the harvest moon and when the planets align. On those rare occasions, she enjoys staying in bed literally all day. She also loves her dog Harry and her nephew Gus more than anyone else and she will try to show you pictures of them at any opportunity. If her headphones are on, there's a good chance she's listening to Broadway show tunes. She enjoys dad jokes.

Rija Arif

Finance Director

Rija Arif is the Finance Director for Bauer Women Society. She is currently a junior at Bauer, Majoring in Accounting. She plans to continue her education by pursuing a Master's through the Professional Program in Accountancy before going on to become a CPA. She plans to end school with a hefty amount of unwanted debt. Her dream job would be to be an accountant for Chanel or Christian Louboutin. Really, anything to pay off that debt.

Rija has been an active member of Bauer Women Society since fall 2016. She credits BWS for providing her with many opportunities and helping her through her first semester at the University of Houston. As a transfer student, she understands how stressful it can be in a new environment and wants to be there for any member who needs help.

Two things she loves more than anything are traveling and Dexter. Dexter is not her boyfriend, but her dog. A cute little Shih Tzu to be exact. Some of her favorite places she has visited are Australia, Portland, and Paris. She loves to seek adventure in new places and learn about cultures in different countries worldwide with Dexter by her side.

Outside of School, Rija has a passion for all things beauty. She expresses her creativity through her Instagram, YouTube, and her blog. She is a certified makeup artist and does freelance hair and makeup throughout the year. If you need your makeup done, she’s your girl. One of her main aspirations is to build her own high-end makeup brand. So, watch out Anastasia Beverly Hills.

Daniella Ramos is the Corporate Relations Officer for Bauer Women Society. She is a sophomore pursuing a degree in Finance with a minor in Marketing at the C.T Bauer College of Business. She has been an active member of Bauer Women Society since fall 2016.

She is currently in the Ted Bauer Leadership Certificate Program where she will continue to build her leadership skills.

Daniella loves to help others in their pursuit in life and strives to encourage those to follow their passion. As one of her goals this academic year includes obtaining an internship, she wishes to make a greater impact on Bauer Women Society this semester.

As a transfer student, Ashley understands how difficult it is to adjust to a new environment, which is why Ashley’s goal as the member relations officer is to make all of the members feel loved and welcomed.

Ashley loves to spend time with her family and friends. When she’s not working or going to school, she enjoys watching movies, hanging out with her 2 dogs, Missy and Max, and baking. The past two summers she went on a cruise and found a new love for traveling. She hopes to one-day travel around the world.

She’s eager to meet and befriend all the new members and thrilled for the opportunity to get know them and strengthen her connection with current members. Monica is super excited to be an officer and is so thankful to have join the amazing student organization that is Bauer Women Society. She is happy to help members out in anything they need and they’re always welcome to approach her with any questions, comments or concerns. Either way she’s here to help!

During her free time she loves to support UH at football games and she expects to see her BWS family there with her. She loves to spent time with her family and friends, watching movies and catching up on TV shows (she is currently obsess with all the superheroes show on CW plus the originals). She enjoys going out dancing (that's when she releases her inner Beyoncé), eating and sleeping!

If you think the Media Director looks like her, that's pure coincidence. ;)

Media Director

Eva Castillo is the Media Director for Bauer Women Society. She is a senior student at the College of Natural Science and Mathematics majoring in Biology with a minor in psychology (BWS is serious when they say they accept ALL majors). Eva works as a part-time chemistry lab assistant at Houston Community College and only has a few more credits to go before she graduates in fall 2017. She couldn’t be more excited and petrified for the wonders and adventures the world has in store for her. She’s very passionate about making a positive difference in member’s life and believes that a simple warm smile and a hello can start that difference. As a transfer student, she knows it’s hard adjusting to a new school and making new friends, for that reason she wants to make all members feel welcomed and help them out in anything they need to have a successful semester.

In her spare time, Eva loves spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys eating chocolate and tacos, going to UH football and basketball games, singing and dancing to the Mamma Mia movie soundtrack, and catching up on her TV shows. She’s extremely excited to work as an officer alongside her evil twin sister and eager for the amazing new memories she’ll make this semester.

Fall 2017 It’s Going To Be LEGEN….Wait For It…DARY!
