Officer Positions 

 Responsibilities Include:

  • Acquire receipts, maintain bank reconciliations, and reimburse purchases made by other officers

  • Assist Vice President in making sure membership dues are paid each semester.

  • Pick up and deposit sponsorship checks.

  • Create and share files to keep officers up-to-date with financial information.

  • Maintain the Accounting and Finance Directorate with the Finance Manager.

  • Create a semester budget and upkeep, and communicate with officers to ensure they stay within the budget.

Finance Director

Operations Director

Responsibilities include:

  • Reserve rooms for events

  • Order/pick up food and groceries for events! 

  • Maintain food budget with Finance Director

  • Plan and organize the banquet with Logistics Manager! 

  • Maintain the Logistics and Operations Directorate with the Logistics Manager

  • Plan events on a budget

Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for sourcing and executing corporate events.

  • Seek and obtain new corporate sponsorships.

  • Keep up communication with current organization sponsors, including keeping contracts up-to-date and ensuring they are upheld.

  • Ensure all sponsor advertisements and announcements are properly distributed via social media and email with the Secretary and Media Director.

  • Create event flyers and share them with the Media Director and Secretary by a specified date.

  • Create professional documents and handouts to keep companies up to date on the organization’s logistics.

  • Maintain public relations within the University of Houston and the business community.

Sr. Corporate Relations Director

​Responsibilities include:

  • Create volunteer events

  • Impromptu socials after events

  • Communicate well with other officers

  • Carpool organizing

  • Co-running Media and Outreach Directorate

Community Service Director

Responsibilities Include:​

  • Take photos and videos at all events

  • Keep all social media platforms up to date

  • Maintain the organization’s website

  • Maintain the Media and Outreach Directorate with the Community Service Director

  • Knows how to maintain engagement with an audience online

Media Director

Responsibilities include:

  • Organize fundraising events with Finance Director

  • Point-of-contact for fundraising socials (GroupRaise)

  • Receive Texas Food Handler Certification

  • Co-lead the Accounting and Finance Directorate

 

Recommended skills:

  • Great communication and teamwork skills

  • Organized and creative

  • Able to adapt to quick changes

  • Adept with google sheets

Finance Manager

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the logistics of an event. i.e. presentation, officer/guest arrival time, music

  • Create an agenda and PowerPoint presentation for every event

  • Event time, set up/clean up, dress code for officers, food, items needed for
    events, officer duties throughout each event

  • Coordinate banquet and one potluck social event every semester.

  • Track officer attendance for weeks with more than 3 workshops/corporate events.

  • Maintain the Logistics and Operations Directorate with the Operations Director.

Logistics Manager

Responsibilities include:

  • Represent BWS in the corporate world

  • Build relationships with recruiters from a variety of industries

  • Plan and execute corporate events

  • Help guide members professionally

 

Recommended skills:

  • Likes to network and sell the organization

  • Has good communication and time management skills

  • Is responsible and encouraging

  • Wants to see our members succeed

Jr. Corporate Relations Director

Responsibilities include:

  • Recruit and be the main point of contact for guest speakers

  • Organize and create informative workshops

  • Serve as a point of contact for member recruitment, involvement, and retainment

  • Use creativity to plan and execute socials

  • Be a resource for information for on-campus resources

Member Relations Director

Responsibilities include:

  • Constructing and mailing out a weekly newsletter

  • The main point of contact for member and external inquiries

  • Maintains attendance point sheet

  • Responsible

  • Able to manage multiple tasks at once

Secretary

Officer Qualifications

  • Student at the University of Houston

  • Be an active member (250+ points)

  • Attended both alumni leadership panels

  • Available Tuesdays and Thursdays after 5 pm

  • Have a flexible schedule

  • Willingness to be a part of the change

  • Be passionate, carry BWS pride, and be able to have fun!

Presentation

During election night, you will show a presentation to nominate yourself. Each person will be given 3 minutes to present their presentation. Depending on how many people are running for the position, you will then have a 2-4 minute 'Question and Answer' segment. Members are able to present with a PowerPoint or PDF. (We recommend 3-5 slides when presenting to keep within the 3 minute time frame.)
